Washed and Waiting is a brief, but insightful and hopeful, collection of thoughts and stories from a gay lifelong Christian. In writing it and other books author Wesley Hill has quickly become a role model for other Christians wrestling with same-sex attraction. He grew up immersed in church culture and the gospel and writes extensively about his journey toward better understanding his same-sex attraction and the impacts it has on a life of faithful submission to Christ. He recounts many helpful conversations and insights from Christian friends and mentors along the way as well as difficult moments trying to communicate his burden to those same friends and mentors. He also spends time describing his own biblical convictions leading him to accept a life of celibacy. Wesley is incredibly well read and knowledgeable on other authors and figures who have explored similar paths of faith despite the burden of same-sex attraction. He quotes from them frequently. Overall, Washed and Waiting is poised to provide immense encouragement not only to same-sex attracted Christians trying to discern a path forward, but also to anyone curious about how mature faith can express itself in the life of a gay person submitting to Christ.
