Forgive Us Our Sins

Homosexuality in the Light of God’s Truth

by Scott Barefoot and Richard Starr | Print, 99 pg.

Review by made. known.

Fair warning: This book is brutally honest. Scott Barefoot gives a detailed account of his life as a Christian who struggles with same-sex attraction. You may find yourself deeply convicted by Pastor Starr’s presentation of God’s holy Law and this inconvenient truth: contrary to what our culture and many churches and pastors proclaim, God’s Word does not accept same-sex sexual activity as compatible with Jesus’ command to love one’s neighbor. At the same time, you will find yourself encouraged and empowered as Pastor Starr points you to Jesus, the friend of sinners, whose death on the cross has made it so a holy God will forgive, cherish, accept, and embrace sinners like you and me. You will see this grace of God on display in Scott’s life. Even during Scott’s days of rebellion and embrace of sin, his Heavenly Father never left and slowly guided him back into His arms.

Also included in this book are biblical responses to the claims of the false shepherds who led Scott astray and practical ways to love those who have wandered from the faith. At less than 100 pages long, this book makes for a quick, accessible, and easily shared overview of God’s law and love in the life of same-sex attracted Christians. At the same time, this is not a comprehensive guide to all things related to homosexuality; the brevity of the book may leave readers with as many questions as answers.
