An outstanding, positively written Lutheran resource that explores all aspects of human sexuality from a scriptural and confessional point of view. It provides a faithful yet empathic perspective that sees sexuality as God’s gift, yet one which every person struggles with in our fallen world.
It warns us against viewing sexual immorality too narrowly as if only the LGBTQ+ community were afflicted by sinful desires and behavior. At the same time, it clearly asserts, “This set of ideas or teachings about human nature (i.e., the transgender worldview, ed.) must be addressed directly. The rejection of the “binary” view of sexuality — that human creatures are male or female — is a frontal challenge to biblical teaching” (19). It offers a deep biblical analysis of “how we got here” to this cultural point where “biblical morality is increasingly viewed…as immoral” (21). Yet it remains both compassionate and realistic about every Christian’s struggle since the Fall, pointing out that “a believer lives within both a now and a not yet (Romans 7:25)” (27).
